Rubita on PandaChat — with a question about PandaChat

Is your question already answered on another page?

Quite possibly. Costs, the app, broken cameras, safety and the step-by-step tour each have a page of their own, and those go into more detail than an FAQ can. Check the list below first; if your question isn’t there, the eighteen answers further down cover the odds and ends.

  • Whether it costs anything: is PandaChat free covers free matches, rewards and coins.
  • Putting it on a phone: the PandaChat app page has the home-screen steps for iPhone and Android.
  • A camera or microphone that won’t start: check the browser’s permission for the site first, then close any other app using the camera; the device questions further down cover the rest.
  • Someone who made you uncomfortable: safety and privacy explains blocking and reporting.
  • The whole thing, start to finish: how PandaChat works.

Still stuck after reading?

Write to us. The contact page has the support address, and a reply comes back faster when you mention your device, your browser and what you tapped. Or go back to the Panda Video Chat home page and take a call; plenty of questions get answered that way.

The questions below run in five groups, in this order: getting started, calls, free matches and coins, devices, and safety.

Eighteen quick answers

What should I do before my first call?

Find a spot with light in front of you rather than behind, plug in earphones if you have them, and close other apps that might be using the camera. Then tap Start a call and allow the camera and microphone when the browser asks.

Can I use PandaChat on a school or work network?

Sometimes not. Some school and office networks block video calling or the connections it relies on. If calls won’t connect there but work at home or on mobile data, the network is the likely cause, and that’s the network owner’s decision.

Why is the other person’s video frozen?

Usually it’s their connection, not yours. Give it a few seconds; if the picture doesn’t recover, tell them if they can still hear you, or hang up and take the next call. If it happens on every call, move closer to your Wi-Fi.

Why did my match end suddenly?

Usually the other person hung up or a connection dropped. A call can also end once it needs coins and the wallet doesn’t have enough. None of that means you did something wrong. Tap Start again for the next call, and check your signal if it keeps happening.

Why can’t the other person hear me?

Check that the browser has microphone permission, that the phone isn’t on silent or muted, and that no other app, such as a phone call or a voice app, is holding the microphone. Earphones with a built-in mic often fix it.

Can I see someone’s profile before calling them?

Yes. Open Who’s online and tap a face to see the profile first. Calling from there rings that person rather than a random match.

Can I change my display name?

Open your own profile from the Me page to see what you can edit there. If you need something changed that the screen doesn’t let you edit, email [email protected].

Where do I buy coins?

In the wallet inside PandaChat.

I bought coins and they haven’t appeared. What now?

Give it a minute and refresh the page. If they still aren’t there, email [email protected] with the time of the purchase and the receipt or reference from your payment, so the team can trace it.

Is there a subscription?

There’s an optional VIP membership; its price and what it includes are shown in the app before you choose it.

Does PandaChat work on a smart TV browser?

We haven’t tested it on TVs, so we can’t promise it. Most TVs don’t have a camera or microphone a browser can use, and a call needs them. A phone, tablet or computer is the dependable choice.

Can I use headphones?

Yes, and they help. Wired or Bluetooth earphones stop the other person hearing their own voice echo back, and they keep your side of the conversation a little more private.

Does a call use a lot of battery?

A video call keeps the camera, the screen and the connection busy, so it uses more battery than reading a page. On a long call, plug the phone in or switch to voice mode for the next one.

Can I use PandaChat on a Chromebook?

If its browser is up to date and the site is allowed to use the camera and microphone, it works like any other laptop. We haven’t tried it on every Chromebook out there.

Can I delete my account?

Email [email protected] from the address you’d like replies sent to, and describe the account you mean. The team will tell you what’s needed for that account.

Someone shared my picture somewhere else. What can I do?

Email [email protected] with what you found and roughly when the call happened, and report the profile in PandaChat if you can. If it’s posted on another site, report it to that site as well.

Is PandaChat for teenagers?

No. PandaChat isn’t for minors, and the terms of service set out the age requirement. If you think the person on a call is under age, hang up and report them.

How do I tell you about a bug?

Email [email protected] with your phone or computer, your browser, what you tapped and what happened instead. A screenshot helps more than a long description.

Ready when you are.
